“I believe that therapy is a time to discover a new way of living. It allows you to create opportunities in your life, your relationships, and your future.” –Julie Hjelm

Julie’s PhD focused on the relationship between trauma, the childhood home, and the maturity level reached as an adult. Her work helps adults understand how situations that occurred during their childhood could continue to stop them from developing solid relationships with other people, make tough decisions, and have a better life outcome. This research can help parents understand how to manage the anxiety that occurs when their child is suffering from trauma. Her goal is to help adults reduce the influence trauma has in their lives and their children’s lives.
